Alex Alburqueque,
a Peruvian, began his voice studies at Maryland’s Montgomery College,
soloing in Mozart’s Requiem Mass in D Minor. A baritone, he continues
his studies at the University of Maryland, where has participated in Don
Giovanni by Mozart and in operatic workshops interpreting songs from
works including Samson and Delilah, The Daughter of the Regiment,
Don Pasquale, and The Marriage of Figaro. He has performed with
Zarzuela Di Si Chamber Opera of Washington, Lyric Theatre of Washington and
in various In Series productions. He also takes part in opera workshops for
area schools. Alburqueque has done dubbing for HHS Productions’
documentaries. He also works with Teatro de la Luna’s Experience Theater
program and has performed in The Box of Surprises, Hansel and
Gretel, ABE: a dream fulfilled, The Cat and the Seagull
and Drops of Water. He was lauded for his singing at La Luna’s
Night of Boleros, and his acting credits include several
Teatro de la Luna productions: She Returned One Night, Kick-Butt Women,
Chúmbale: Every Love Bird Needs a Nest, Heartstrings and, most
recently, Sex, Shame and Tears. |
