FERNANDO CABRERA (Santiago, República Dominicana). He is a poet, essayist, narrator, visual artist, composer, editor, and university professor. He has received numerous national and international awards for his poetry, literary work, music, and cultural contributions. His poetry collections include: El árbol/The Tree (1992, Casa de Teatro Poetry Prize, translated into English by Charlene Santos), Ángel de seducción/Angel of Seduction (1996, Pedro Henríquez Ureña Poetry Prize, translated into English by Charlene Santos), Obra poética 1990-96 (Presidential Council of Culture edition, 2000), and Destierros/Curriculum vitae (2001, National Poetry Prize, Universidad Central del Este). His essay collections include Imago Mundi (2000) and Utopía y posmodernidad. Poesía fin de siècle Dominicana (National Essay Prize). He received third prize in the Luis Díaz music competition (2024) and the Pedro Henríquez Ureña essay award (2025). He is a systems and computer engineer with a master's degree in business administration and a doctorate in linguistics and literary studies. He founded and directs the International Arts Festival and co-directs the World Poetry Day Festival. He contributes to newspapers and magazines specializing in art and computer science. Some of his work has been translated into English, French, Italian, and Mandarin. His 2025 publications include the co-edited anthology Humans Again / Humanos nuevo / Humains à nouveau and the forthcoming novel Narciso (Sial Pigmalión, Madrid). One of his poems is included in the anthology The Polaris Trilogy: Poems to the Moon, which NASA sent to the South Pole of the Moon in March 2025. He is president of Casa de Arte, Inc., a member of the National Council of Culture and the Dominican Academy of Language.
