JUANA ESTRELLA in

La Escoba

The Broom

written & directed by

Juan Andrade Polo

The broom that sweeps clean...

removes the mask from society and makes it laugh at itself. A portrait of Ecuadoran idiosyncrasy as seen through a long-running newspaper... this look at news coverage by LA ESCOBA (translation: THE BROOM) offers a light-hearted depiction of an era that older people will remember and younger people will discover. An epic-comic parade of that history that makes us what we are. Anyone who doesn’t laugh ... isn’t Ecuadoran!

la mujer borrada

Mary Magdalene

the woman erased

written & directed by

Viviana Cordero

I am Mary Magdalene...

Said to have been the companion and wife of Christ, to have been misunderstood, badly viewed, erased and hidden. To feel judged and sentenced. A profound reflection upon life and death, upon the acts that produced an existential change in humanity.

Magic & Illusion

Juan Estrella

Speaking of Magic and Illusion...

The dictionary says:

Magic: that which through natural means creates effects that seem supernatural.  The charm and/or attraction with which something creates delight.

Illusion: prestidigitation (sleight of hand), transmutation (actor).

Reality says:

Magic-Magician (male and female): is the one who, with what he or she earns, makes it to the end of the month.

Everyone says:

Magic-Illusion has only one name: JUAN ESTRELLA and his show!

Julio Jaramillo

artistic direction

Mario Marcel

A great ending for Magical Ecuador

A deserved tribute to the great "Ruiseñor de América" with

Jorge Anaya, Elena Lacayo, Cristian Villavicencio

Ramón González, Nelson Alvarez

Julio Alfredo Jaramillo Laurido (1935-1978) was a notable Ecuadorian singer and recording artist who performed throughout Latin America, achieving great fame for his renditions of boleros, valses, pasillos, tangos, and rancheras. Dearly, not only to the Ecuadorians, but to all romantic music lovers.
