Jhakye García is Bolivian. She studied social communication at the Catholic University of Bolivia. Her first theatrical appearance was in her hometown of Cochabamba with the “Hecho a Mano” theater company. At Hecho a Mano she participated in children’s theater and informative plays about HIV-AIDS prevention, including “Come sit with me.” Jhakye also worked at Bolivia’s Department of Social Communication at the Health Services Department. In Maryland, she worked as child development area supervisor for PG Child Resource Center. She has participated in numerous playreadings at Teatro de la Luna. She currently dedicates her time to her biggest loves, her sons Manuel and Francisco.
