Native to Villarrica, Paraguay, he is internationally considered one of the most virtuoso interpreters of the Paraguayan harp. Beginning his artistic career at age 16, he has worked with such groups as Los Chulupíes, Oscar Barreto Aguayo, Oscar Escobar, Los Zorzales Guaraníes, and has toured throughout Latin America. In Mexico he became part of the duet Ypacaraí. He visited Japan twice, concertizing alone and with the Familia Duarte group. He has promoted the Paraguayan harp in recitals in countries throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia for over four decades. In 2005 he helped inaugurate the first Celso Duarte School of Traditional Harp in Durango, Mexico, and in 2007 he began an annual International Seminar of Paraguayan Harp in Cuernavaca, Mexico with participants from the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Japan. He has concertized and held master classes throughout Mexico, and in 2009 he was the guest of honor at the First Latin American “Celso Duarte” Harp Festival in Durango, Mexico. Currently residing in Mexico, he makes a living as a soloist, master teacher, and director of the Arpas de América ensemble and Los Duarte group.
