Gerald Montoya has a degree in International Relations-Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University. In his native Peru he began studying acting at El Club de Teatro of Lima in 1990; and from 1993-96 continued in workshops directed by Reynaldo Arenas, Carlos Victoria Álvarez and Sara Silva Checa. In 2004, he took a theater technique workshop at the Euro American Institute Undergraduate Program, Sophia Anthipolis, France, taught by the English actress Kathryn McGrath. Between 2006 and 2008, he participated in workshops at Teatro de la Luna and in a playreading of Smithereens, and performed in The Adventures of Pinocchio and She Returned one Night. In 2009, he acted at Hexagon in What So Proudly We Bailed. In the same year, he was the lead in GALA’s The World is a Handkerchief, a musical for children, written by Jorge Diaz and also performed in the world premiere of Mummy in the Closet: The Return of Eva Perón, which has received five Helen Hayes nominations, including Outstanding New Play or Musical. Gerald has studied music, singing and classical ballet. He is a music composer and a singer who has participated in several music groups in DC area |
